The Experience

A couple, or two singles, are needed to help with clearing and planting a fairly steep slope of native bush in order to mitigate bushfire vulnerability for the house. We also need clearing of feral plants (lantana, blue top, camphor laurel etc.), road work and rock wall building. We need help with housework and cooking too, We are now also looking for helpers with carpentry and renovations skills. There is plenty of work for rainy days.

It was hard, physical work everyday but it was so much fun! I spent most of my time collecting sticks and tree limbs from pathways, removing Lantana, spreading wood chips, and digging out tree stumps. Jo-Ann and David are lovely hosts, so kind and know lots about local wildlife and everything there is to do around the Tweed Valley! An isolated property so don't expect to leave the property outside of days off, was perfect for a decompressing time away from cities!

I really enjoyed my time with David and Jo-Anne. We got on great and true to their description, they treat visitors like family and are extremely knowledgeable about the local area. I worked on refurbishing some outdoor benches, weeding/landscaping, and hauling downed limbs away. It's a quiet stay away from any big cities, but they will take you on excursions and if you tell them what interests you, they'll try to cater to that. E.g. I told them I liked animals, so they took me to a wildlife sanctuary. Great place if a quiet time the home Australian country/outdoors is what you're looking for!
